Flooded-kitchen

Heading away for Christmas? Make sure you won’t come home to an unpleasant surprise!

Imagine coming home from work and when walking into your kitchen you step in a puddle of water. Where is this coming from? You look around and notice that the whole floor and parts of the walls are covered in water that’s coming from under the sink. All because the flexible water hose burst; it could be up to 20 litres per minute.

This is not uncommon. In fact, according to research by general insurer IAG, flexible steel braided hoses accounted for more than one in five water damage claims by Australian homeowners in 2016.

Now in this case it’s still not as bad as it could be. Just think about being away on a holiday, while more and more water flows out of the damaged hose. This can cost you thousands in water damage to your home.

Situations like that are just terrible; they can cost you a lot of money, time and nerves. But this can be prevented…

Flexible water hoses have to be checked regularly

They’re often forgotten about because they’re out of sight, usually hidden in a sink cabinet. Many homeowners only notice them when something is wrong, and water is leaking from underneath the sink. But flexi hoses should be checked every 6 months to avoid catastrophic consequences.

The lifespan of flexible water hoses is limited…

The commonly installed stainless steel hoses have a limited lifespan of approx. 5 years and are prone to bursting, so it’s only a matter of time until they fail.

Don’t settle for stainless steel flexi hoses, there is a better solution!

The better alternative to stainless-steel flexible hoses are polyamide braided flexi hoses .

  • Polyamide flexi hoses have a lifespan of approx. 15 years (so they last up to three times as long as standard stainless-steel flexi hoses)
  • And they’re corrosion resistant which means that they won’t rust. That makes them a far better pick.

Consider having your stainless-steel flexible water hoses replaced with polyamide braided flexi hoses and make sure you have them checked by a qualified plumber, so you don’t run the risk of coming home to a flooded kitchen, laundry or bathroom.
