Maudsland Gold Coast solar battery installation by Fallon Solutions

Project Report: Home Solar & Battery Optimisation

Project Scope

Recently we visited a home in Maudsland on the Gold Coast where a family with two teenagers was facing high electricity bills due to heavy usage from a swimming pool, five air conditioners, four televisions, and numerous appliances. Although the home was equipped with 36 solar panels that generate substantial electricity and sells excess energy back to the grid, the customer was still receiving sizeable electricity bills.

Objective: How can we reduce or eliminate their electricity bill altogether?

Project Overview

We conducted a free solar performance and battery readiness assessment for the customer, who is a Red Home Protection member. The assessment confirmed that the existing solar panels were in good condition and verified that the customer already owned a hybrid Sungrow inverter. Based on this, we recommended the installation of a 19.2 kW Sungrow battery stack to optimise energy usage and reduce grid dependency.

Installation Details

  • The battery stack was installed in the customer’s garage for protection against environmental exposure.
  • Safety measures included a flammable protective screen mounted behind the battery stack and bollards placed in front to guard against potential vehicle impact.

Maudsland Gold Coast home garage installation of a Sungrow solar battery stack, completed after a solar performance and battery readiness assessment to help reduce high electricity bills from heavy household energy usage. Integrated with iSolarCloud App for real-time monitoring, energy savings, and reduced grid dependency.

Results & Benefits

One month post installation, the customer is delighted with the battery system especially the financial savings visible in real time via the iSolarCloud App.

Graph showing solar installation results in a Maudsland Gold Coast home, highlighting reduced electricity bills, increased energy savings, and improved solar battery performance with the 19.2kW Sungrow battery stack. The chart demonstrates how the system powers the home during the day and stores excess energy for night-time usage and grid export earnings.

Energy Flow & Savings:

  1. The system effectively powers the home during the day using solar energy, while at night the battery maintains operations.
  2. The customer reportedly earns on average about $7 per day by selling surplus energy back to the grid.
  3. On overcast or low-sun days, the app enables strategic energy management by allowing the customer to purchase grid power at off-peak rates to top up the battery then use it during peak pricing periods to maximise savings.

Summary

Objective Achieved: The introduction of a Sungrow battery stack and integration with iSolarCloud has empowered the customer to reduce grid dependency, earn from energy exports, and manage daily consumption more efficiently. She has seen financial gains from grid export and strategic usage of cheaper grid rates.

System Benefits: The customer now has enhanced self-sufficiency and real-time monitoring and control via the app.
