laundry-problems

Do any of these laundry plumbing problems sound familiar to you?

Doing the laundry can be a time-consuming task, especially if you’re washing clothes and towels of more than one person. Thankfully the times when we had to wash laundry by hand are over; nowadays we put the dirty laundry in the machine and unload the clean clothes once it’s done. Easy. But what if it doesn’t work that way?

If you experience one of the following laundry plumbing problems, it’s time to call in an expert.

Insufficient water

When the dirty laundry is piling up, but the washing machine can’t keep up with the demand, it might be because there is not enough water entering the machine. What a nightmare!

When the water flows through the supply hoses into your washing machine, it passes through screens that are supposed to filter out any debris. But sometimes those filters get clogged. If nothing seems wrong with your filter and pipes, the problem could be located in the water supply pipe or in the water heater.

Flooding in your laundry

If you come home to a flooded laundry room, you know that there’s something wrong with your laundry plumbing. Flooding is often caused by faulty hoses, a blocked drain, burst water pipes or a damaged water seal.11

Blocked laundry drain

If the water can’t pass through the laundry drainage pipe, because the drain is blocked, the washing machine might overflow and be the cause of a flooded laundry. Blockages often occur because small items like socks, hair clips or coins get stuck in the pipes.

Water draining out without washing anything

If water appears to be flowing into your washing machine and draining but your clothes aren’t being washed properly, this indicates that there’s an appliance issue.

Burst Pipes

One way to detect damaged pipes before they burst is to schedule regular plumbing inspections. We recommend annual plumbing inspections, which may save you a lot of hassle and money.
