Consumers urged to immediately check for recalled LG solar batteries after Government safety warning notice

In light of recent safety warnings issued by the Assistant Treasurer, the Hon. Stephen Jones, and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), we want to draw attention to potential fire risks associated with certain LG solar lithium-ion batteries. The affected batteries, installed in solar energy systems nationwide, are the subject of a product safety recall due to the risk of overheating and the potential for house fires.

Safety Warning Notice:

The ACCC has issued a national safety warning notice, urging consumers to be vigilant and check if their solar storage battery is subject to the recall. The warning emphasises the potential risks of fire associated with these batteries and the need for immediate action to ensure the safety of occupants and prevent property damage.

Scope of the Recall:

Approximately 8,000 affected LG batteries remain at risk in homes across Australia. These batteries were manufactured by LG and installed in various systems, including LG-branded systems, those sold under other brands such as SolaX, and unbranded systems. Alarmingly, about 6,000 of these batteries have yet to be located.
