It feels crazy to say, but Christmas is right around the corner!
And we’re sure you’ve started thinking about the presents, the food, catching up with all your family, and planning the holidays. But have you thought about your home this holiday season and if it’s ready?
Here is a handy checklist for preparing your home so it’s in top condition for family and friends visiting around Christmas time.
Pre-Christmas Holiday Checklist
- Has your aircon been cleaned and serviced lately? With the air conditioning pumping more than normal over the summer holidays a professional service and aircon clean will ensure it’s working efficiently.
- Is your switchboard up to scratch? Frequently tripping circuit breakers can be a sign your electrical system may struggle to handle the extra load over this busy period. Get it checked by an electrician to make sure.
- Are your smoke alarms working? Test all the smoke alarms in your home.
- Are all the taps, mixers, and flexi hoses leak and rust-free?
- When was the last time you had maintenance carried out on your hot water heater? Discoloured water, running out of hot water, and a noisy system can all be signs something is not right with your hot water system.
- Do the toilets in your home flush properly?
- Are the garden, stairs, footpaths and outdoor entertaining spaces well-lit and ready for guests?
- Do you have external power points in the right spots for Christmas lights?
- Is your home security floodlight protected?
- Have you tested your safety switches?
