What is a Master Plumber?
Put simply, a master plumber is a plumber who is registered to an association that ensures all its members are qualified and meet a number of practice and trade standards. The point of this is that it ensures that customers that the plumber has the requisite skills and knowledge and that their work carries a guarantee.
In Queensland, there is the Master Plumbers’ Association of Queensland (MPAQ), and across Australia, there is the National Plumbing Associations Alliance or NPAA, to which the MPAQ belongs as well as the Master Plumbers’ and Mechanical Services Association of Australia or MPMSAA.
All of these associations are intent on ensuring that there is uniformity in the licensing of plumbing contractors, uniformity in the regulation of the plumbing industry and uniformity in the training delivery of plumbing qualifications.
If you need any plumbing work done then you should ensure that your plumber belongs to one of the above associations. Otherwise, you could find that the work done is below standard and that you may have little to no recourse in rectifying these issues. Most plumbing work done needs to be done by a qualified plumber, otherwise, you may risk making your property unsellable and uninsurable.
Always make sure that your plumber is a Master Plumber.
