What’s on in Brisbane this Christmas

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Make the most of the festive cheer by enjoying the events around Brisbane for all the family. Here are just a few of the things to enjoy in our great city.

Gold Lotto City Hall Light Display

King George Square, 8 Dec – 25 Dec.

Free

Head into the centre of town for an impressive projection display presented on the face of the City Hall building. The display starts at 7:30 pm and runs every 15 minutes.

Brisbane City Christmas Parade, presented by David Jones

Queen St Mall, 15 Dec – 24 Dec

Free

The much-loved parade starts at 7:00 pm each night from the 15th through to Christmas Eve. The parade includes music, the nativity scene, performers, Santa and plenty of festive cheer! Starting at the Edward St end of Queen St Mall, the parade makes its way through to the finish point at King George Square.

South Bank Christmas Village.

15 Dec – 23 Dec

Some fees apply for activities.

The Village sets up at 3:00 pm and runs through to 10:00 pm each night at South Bank parklands. There is a variety of things for the whole family to enjoy.

The gift market is great for some one-of-a-kind gift ideas and they are open throughout the evening. Twilight carols begin at 5:00 pm and if you take your favourite pool floaties, the Streets Beach will be playing Christmas movie favourites from 6:00 pm. There are also free activities for children including crafts and dance.

The XPRESS Fun Train

9 Dec – 21 Jan

$4 Kids, $5 Adults

A great way to see South Bank and all the festivities, you can hop on and off wherever you like.

The non-operational dates include; Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Christmas Fireworks

South Bank, 20 Dec – 23 Dec,

Free

Held in the South Bank parklands with a view of the city, kick off your Christmas cheer with an exciting fireworks display.

Twilight Makers Market

Shore St West, Cleveland (Raby Bay Boardwalk), 23 Dec 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Head down to Brisbane’s Bayside to wander through the homemade gift markets. There’s also great food, entertainment and pleasant views of the Raby Bay marina as the sun sets.

Urban XTreme – School Holiday Snow Sports Workshop

Tuesday – Thursday each week from 12 Dec – 18 Jan (excludes 26 – 28 Dec)

Keep the kids active these school holidays and experience snow sports that we don’t usually get to enjoy in our Queensland climate!

The indoor snow sports adventure park, Urban XTreme is holding skiing and snowboarding workshops.

The 3-day Workshop includes;

1hr Ski or Snowboard lesson,

1hr of other activities such as trampolining, slides and games,

Drinks and snacks,

A certificate of achievement.
