Proactive Sewer Pipe Repair in Redcliffe: A New Homeowner’s Peace of Mind
Buying a new home is exciting, but it often comes with a nagging question: what hidden problems are lurking where you can’t see them? While you can see the paint on the walls and the condition of the garden, the health of your underground plumbing is a complete mystery.
A savvy new homeowner in Redcliffe decided not to leave it to chance. They called Fallon Solutions not for an emergency, but for a proactive check-up. That smart decision allowed us to identify and fix a major issue before it could ever cause a disaster, using modern technology to protect their new investment.
The Problem: The Threat You Can’t See
The customer didn’t have a blocked drain or a sewage backup. They simply wanted to understand the condition of their plumbing system. We started with a comprehensive CCTV drain inspection, feeding a high-definition camera deep into their sewer line to get a clear picture.
Deep beneath a garden bed, we discovered the hidden culprit: significant tree root intrusion.
Here’s why this is such a serious issue:
- Roots Seek Water: Tiny tree roots are naturally drawn to the moisture and nutrients inside your sewer pipes. They can enter through tiny cracks or joints.
- They Grow and Expand: Once inside, these roots grow into a thick, fibrous mass, catching waste and debris and eventually causing a complete blockage.
- Pipe Damage: Over time, the pressure from the growing roots can crack, break, or even collapse the entire pipe, leading to major and expensive sewer repairs.
This ticking time bomb was located two metres underground, meaning a traditional repair would have required destroying a large section of their garden.

The Solution: A Modern, ‘No-Dig’ Approach
Our licensed drain plumber in Redcliffe developed a plan that would permanently fix the pipe with minimal disruption to the property.
Step 1: The Clean-Out First, we used a powerful high-pressure water jetter to blast away the invading tree roots. This scoured the pipe clean, clearing the obstruction and allowing us to see the full extent of the damage.
Step 2: Creating Smart Access To perform the repair without digging a long trench, we used a micro-excavator to create a small, targeted opening. In this spot, we installed two new inspection openings. This not only gave us the perfect access point for the repair but also makes any future check-ups simple and non-invasive for the homeowner.
Step 3: Trenchless Pipe Relining This is where modern technology shines. We used pipe relining to create a brand-new pipe inside the old one.
- A special fabric liner was saturated with a powerful epoxy resin.
- This liner was fitted onto an inflatable bladder.
- Using a CCTV camera for pinpoint accuracy, we guided the bladder into position over the damaged section.
Step 4: Curing and Confirmation The bladder was then inflated, pressing the resin liner firmly against the old pipe’s walls. After it hardened (cured) over a monitored period, the bladder was deflated and removed. This left behind a new, super-strong, and seamless pipe section that is impervious to future root intrusion. A final camera inspection confirmed a perfect, watertight seal.
The Benefits for the Homeowner
By taking a proactive approach, the customer gained far more than just a repaired pipe. They now have:
- Complete Peace of Mind: Their sewer system is secure, backed by a 10-year warranty and a complimentary follow-up inspection in 12 months.
- A Future Disaster Avoided: They prevented the stress, mess, and cost of a sewage backup or a collapsed pipe down the line.
- Their Garden Preserved: The use of a micro-excavator and trenchless pipe relining meant their beautiful garden bed was saved from destructive trenching.
- Smart Future-Proofing: The new inspection points add value to the property and make any future maintenance incredibly simple.
