How does a Multi-Split System work?
A standard split system is a “1-to-1” connection (one indoor unit to one outdoor unit). A multi split system AC is a “Many-to-1” connection.
It uses a larger, more powerful outdoor compressor that can run independent refrigerant lines to 2, 3, 4, or even 5 indoor units simultaneously. This allows you to have a small 2.5kW unit in the bedroom and a large 7kW unit in the lounge, all running off the same external motor.
Key Advantage: You can turn off the bedroom units during the day and only run the living room, saving significantly on energy compared to some older ducted systems.

It depends on the number of rooms. Generally, a multi split system installation is cheaper than ducted for 2-3 rooms. Once you get to 5+ rooms, a ducted system may become more cost-effective. We can provide quotes for both so you can compare.
Yes. Because all indoor units run off a single compressor, a fault in the outdoor unit will affect all connected rooms. However, modern systems from Daikin and Mitsubishi are extremely reliable when serviced regularly.
Yes, but the system has a total capacity limit. Our technicians will “size” the outdoor unit to match your usage. If you turn all 5 units on high mode at once, the system may distribute power to ensure even cooling, rather than maximum power to all.
No. A multi-split system must be in either “Heating Mode” or “Cooling Mode” for the whole house. You cannot have one room heating while another is cooling.
