Are you Storm Ready?
Storm Season in Brisbane is just around the corner, so now is the time to make sure that you are storm ready. Are your gutters cleaned, trees trimmed, and loose items stowed away?
The Queensland Government has launched a new website aimed at getting Queenslanders ready for extreme weather events. Some of the suggestions are:
- Ensure your roof is all secure with all tiles and sheeting fastened securely;
- Trim tree branches that overhang the house etc;
- Clean your gutters and downpipes;
- Secure loose items around the house.
The importance of cleaning your gutters
When the heavy rains come; if your gutters are blocked or filled with debris the water has only 2 places to go. It can either flow over the edge of the gutter or worse still back into your roof cavity, causing damage to your internal ceiling and walls. So before those rain come, make sure that your gutters are clean and flowing through to your home stormwater drains.
