Rheem hot water heater recalled due to risk of explosion
A range of Rheem gas storage hot water systems is subject to a safety recall due to a risk of an explosive burst of gas during ignition.
Recalled Rheem gas hot water systems
The ACCC has identified 11 models of Rheem gas hot water heaters which have the following fault:
- Gas that has accumulated in the combustion chamber may ignite if the lighting instructions are not followed closely.
The danger of an explosive burst of gas presents if the accumulated gas is introduced to an ignition source.
The recall applies to these Rheem storage gas hot water system models which were sold in Australia through major retailers from December 2009 to 17 July 2015.
