Queensland on top for solar power generation
Queensland continues to lead the states in solar generation with over 25,400 small scale solar power systems installed so far this year. The state has been the largest installer of solar PV systems for the last 5 years running. Of the 179,601 new solar power systems installed in Australia in 2014, Queensland homes accounted for around one third.
Our sunny state claimed 8 of the top 10 spots, the city of Bundaberg, population of just 71,000, took first place of all postcodes in the country with 9686 small unit photovoltaic systems installed. Postcodes in the state also included in the top ten were Hervey Bay, Caloundra, Toowoomba, Ipswich, the Gold Coast hinterland (4211), Logan and Mackay.
This state’s residents are also enthusiastic users of solar hot water heaters and heat pump hot water systems (air source) coming in a close second at 242,881 systems compared to New South Wales in first at 249,883.
