At Sunshine Coast Stadium, the team installed four 45-meter poles with 310 Philips Optivision LED lights, ensuring minimal spill lighting while meeting international competition standards. The Rochedale Rovers Football Club saw an upgrade to LED lighting with new poles and a lighting control system, achieving compliance with AS2560 standards and future expansion capability. Other notable projects include the Kawana Tennis Club and Caboolture Netball Club, where existing Metal Halide lights were replaced with efficient LED fixtures. The Kedron Wavell Hockey Services Club and Gold Coast Hockey Centre were upgraded to high lux levels for professional use, ensuring minimal impact on nearby residents. Additionally, the Cleveland Thornlands Cricket Club received a state-of-the-art lighting solution for training wickets, while the Cairns project involved collaboration with Phaze Solutions for softball and soccer fields.

Sunshine Coast Stadium
Sunshine Coast Stadium redevelopment was one of the premier locations for upcoming NRL from 2020. The focus was to prepare this facility for all levels of lighting all the way to TV Broadcast Lighting events in all weather conditions. The project was completed within an extremely tight time frame without interruption to the local game season and general use of the grounds for the community. Watch the project video below.
Designed and then constructed over a five-month period the project included:
- Design and installation of 4 x 45-meter poles and footings to suit 64 LED lights each.
- The design and construction of the lighting levels to ensure minimal spill lighting for the residents opposite the grounds, while still providing required light levels for international competition. The total project consisted of 310 Philips Optivision LED light fittings.
- The supply and installation of large distribution boards at each pole location and the power upgrade to the facility.
- Organisation of the delivery of all equipment to the busy metro location, while still being able to meet the clients required delivery date.
- Supply and installation of a state-of-the-art lighting control special effects control system allowing the user to not only control the lights at their required playing levels but to include special effects during pre-start games and other milestone events during a game.
Rochedale Rovers Football Club
Australian Sports Lighting Solutions upgraded the old Metal Halide lights at Rochedale Rovers Football Club to a new LED lighting solution. This consisted of the Installation of 4 new poles and new Philips LED Optivision lights at the grounds.
The facility upgrade consists of 1 full-size rugby league field.
Designed and then constructed over a three-month period the project included for the football field:
- Allowance for new underground reticulation and cabling to all new poles.
- Design of the poles and foundations to take the new LED lights to achieve 200 lux and in addition allowance for future expansion to 500 Lux.
- The design of the lighting levels to ensure compliance to AS2560 training, club competition levels and semi-professional lighting levels including minimal spill lighting for the residents opposite the grounds.
- Organization of the delivery of all equipment to the site.
- Supply and installation of the lighting control system to ensure different modes of lighting were supplied which allowed for complete dimming of the system.
The project was completed on time and within budget to the client.
Kawana Tennis Club
Kawana Tennis Club lighting redevelopment was to incorporate 8 Tennis Courts with LED light fixtures from ELA Lighting. The existing poles on this site had Metal Halide lights and were to be upgrade to LED to improve efficiency and running costs.
The project was completed within the club’s timeframe and within Tennis QLD’s timeframe.
Designed and then constructed over a 2-week period the project included:
- The design and construction of the lighting levels was to ensure minimal spill lighting for the residents opposite the grounds, while still providing required light levels for international competition. The total project consisted of 16 ELA LED light fittings.
- Organization of the delivery of all equipment to the sports grounds.
- The aiming of all light fixtures was conducted during daylight hours and minor adjustments were completed during the night. This ensure best lighting levels for the club.
Caboolture Netball Club
Caboolture Netball Club lighting redevelopment was to incorporate 14 netball courts with LED light fixtures. The existing poles on this site had Metal Halide lights and were to be upgrade to LED.
The project was completed within the club’s timeframe and within Tennis QLD’s (project sponsor’s) timeframe. Without interruption to the local game season and general use of the grounds for the community.

Kedron Wavell Hockey Services Club
Kedron Wavell Hockey Services Club was upgraded from older Metal Halide Lights to new LED Philips Optivision LED Fixtures. The lighting levels provided were in excess of 500 Lux on completion.
The facility consisted of a newly redeveloped full-size hockey field.
Designed and then constructed over a three-month period the project included:
- The design of the lighting levels to be in excess of 500 lux and to ensure minimal spill lighting for the residents opposite the grounds in the multi-story buildings.
- Organisation of the delivery of all equipment to the busy metro location, while still being able to meet the clients required delivery date.
The project was completed within an extremely tight time frame and was completed on time.
Gold Coast Hockey Centre
Gold Coast Hockey Centre redevelopment was one of the premier locations from the 2018 Commonwealth Games. To prepare this facility for both training prior to the games as well as full telecast events in all weather conditions, Australian Sports Lighting Solutions was required to complete the install during the replacement of the main playing surface.
The facility consists of a 2 full-size hockey fields as well as two grass fields used almost nightly by the local community.
Designed and then constructed over a three-month period the project included:
- Allowance for new switchboard installation for the grounds including the organization of power upgrade to the facility to account for future expansion/development of the grounds.
- Design of the poles and footings to be installed during the installation of the new playing surface.
- Organisation of the delivery of all equipment to the busy metro location, while still being able to meet the clients required delivery date.
- Supply and installation of a new stainless-steel lighting control panels to suit the gold coast climate.
The project was completed within an extremely tight time frame during Queensland’s wet season and without interruption to the local competition season and general use of the grounds for the local community. This facility was a standout location during the course of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Cleveland Thornlands Cricket Club
Cleveland Thornlands Cricket Club wanted a state-of-the-art lighting solution for their training wickets. Australian Sports Lighting Solutions provided the full design and construct solution to the club using Sylvania LED Raptor fittings which achieved in excess of 500 lux across all nets.
The facility consists of 4 full-size training wickets for the community to use which are used almost nightly by the local members and community.
Designed and then constructed over a three-month period the project included:
Full trenching and reticulation for the new lighting and nets.
Design of the poles and footings to be installed during the installation of the new playing nets.
The design of the lighting levels to ensure minimal spill lighting for the residents opposite the grounds, while still providing required light levels for training use.
Organisation of the delivery of all equipment, while still being able to meet the clients required delivery date.
Supply and installation of a new control panels to suit the club’s needs.
The project was completed within the time frame and without interruption to the local ground sports which were held daily on their main fields.
Cairns
Australian Sports Lighting Solutions was approached by a local Cairns contractor, Phaze Solutions to assist them with a large project they were doing for 2 x softball fields and 2 soccer fields. They required our assistance in the installation of large foundations and poles for the new sports fields.
The lighting installed at these fields were all Metal Halide light fixtures to meet Training Levels, Competition Levels and Professional Competition Levels of play.
Australian Sports Lighting Solutions is always happy to assist other contractors meet clients needs to ensure the most professional installation.
These fields were all constructed over a 2-year period, the project included:
- The installation of 21 x Foundation cages raging for poles from 18m high to 42m high.
- Pole installation for all fields ranging from 18m – 42m in height.
- Organisation of the delivery of all equipment with Phaze Solutions to ensure all installation dates were met.
- Australian Sports Lighting Solutions worked closely with Phaze Solutions to deliver this project.
The project was completed within an extremely tight time frame during Queensland’s Northern wet season. All fields were completed in early 2018 for club sports to commence.
Laidley Recreation Reserve Sports Grounds.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council got Australian Sports Lighting Solutions to upgrade as well as supply and install new LED Lighting at the Laidley Recreation Reserve Sports Grounds.
This involved retrofitting existing light poles, as well as the supply and installation of new poles. We also included a lighting control system so the council could on-charge electricity costs to the various sports groups.
